About us
“Until the Lion learns to tell his tale, the story of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.”
— An African proverb
What is ReVodution?
ReVodution: Voodoo Education is an initiative to digitally preserve and demystify the herbal and spiritual traditions of Ewe Vodu (Voodoo). Our goal is to educate the world about Vodu and concomitantly de-stigmatize West African spiritual traditions at large. The initiative was founded by Sena and Pele Voncujovi in 2015 and is run by the Voncujovi family shrine, Afrikan Magick Temple, in Accra, Ghana. In addition to our educational work, we also provide professional spiritual consultations, rituals, initiations and coaching services to those in need.
Sena Voncujovi
Since birth, Sena Voncujovi has been immersed in the West African (Ewe) spiritual and herbal traditions of Vodu. He has actively practiced Vodu - as a Hounnon, and Fa (Ifa) - as a Bokor (Afa/Ifa priest), for the past 13 years. His father, Christopher Voncujovi, has operated a traditional shrine in Accra, Ghana for the last 29 years.
As a proud traditionalist, Sena founded ReVodution: Voodoo Education in 2015 to preserve and demystify Vodu digitally. Through ReVodution, Sena has produced six educational short films, built a virtual community of over 30 thousand followers globally, and delivered several lectures at leading universities in the United States, Japan, China, and across Africa.
He graduated from Middlebury College (US), where he studied Political Science, Economics, and African Studies. He recently graduated from Peking University studying China's modernized traditional medicine industry. With this knowledge, he hopes to learn how African countries can also integrate traditional (Afa/Vodu) medicine into their healthcare systems. In 2021, Sena was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent Under 40 by MIPAD,
Pele Voncujovi
Pele Voncujovi is a Ghanaian-Japanese entrepreneur currently based in Tokyo. He spent his first 16 years in Ghana where he was deeply immersed in the Vodu practice from an early age under the guidance of his father Christopher Voncujovi, a Vodu priest.
Pele was exposed to the world of stage magic from the age of three and has performed in front of several dignitaries including Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya at the African Union Summit in 2007 in Accra. With a background in magic, Pele hopes ReVodution can serve as a platform to educate the masses that often confuse stage magic from spirituality. He hopes such an endeavor will reduce the number of people that get scammed by fake “traditionalists” that use stage magic to lure unsuspecting clients.
As the Creative Director of ReVodution, Pele uses his photography and videography skills to document and preserve stories, rituals, herbal remedies, and philosophies of Vodu, as well as supports others through his Bokor (Afa/Ifa priest) work. In 2021, Pele was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent Under 40 by MIPAD,
